I am a native Iowan who returned home after almost two decades on the East and West Coasts. For 20 years, I worked as broadcast news reporter, primarily in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C.

Though I thought I had escaped Iowa winters for good, my wife and I moved to Ankeny in 2020. She had never lived away from Southern California. Good thing we have a fireplace. But now our two boys get to see their grandparents regularly and grow up surrounded by “Iowa nice.”

My favorite place to be is on an airplane (preferably long-haul), and I love traveling to explore other cultures, foods, languages and history.

I am a fan of baseball, Formula 1 and golf. I speak Spanish and always look for opportunities to improve.
